cat not taking to k/d
my elderly cat was recently diagnosed with kidney disease (not sure what stage; haven’t done ultrasound yet, but vet said his urine levels implied an early stage) and was switched to a k/d diet. at first i primarily fed him the rx dry food, which he wasn’t super interested in, and then tried the wet food, which he seemed to like a lot more, but after a few days of eating almost exclusively wet food he’s now throwing up and im not sure what to do. i remember the vet said vomiting is a symptom of later stage kidney disease so now i’m worried he’s further along than i thought.
i need to talk to the vet about next steps, but its the weekend and im trying not to panic until then. he already lost .4 lbs when i was feeding him the dry food, so i was hoping the switch to wet would help his weight go back up, but now it seems he can’t keep that down. any advice? trying not to think the worst.
