Naming a character is hard but naming yourself?
I'm a trans guy and have gone through a few names over the years. I thought I might finally have got to the right name, but over the past year I've finally been able to go on T and have had a few more realisations about myself and relationship with gender that's giving me some doubt. So after many a late night deep dive I'm finally turning to the reddit experts for thoughts/suggestions/opinions.
I've been going as Avery for the past couple years but now (especially now I feel I pass) I'd prefer a more typically masculine name. I'm thinking now it'd be cool to have a similar meaning to my Original Government Name™ of "shadow" or "theory". Let's be honest it's a cool translation and I want to honour the original in some way (I don't hate it, it's just always sorta felt wrong outside of cultural spaces). Alternatively, a masc name starting with A to keep my initials because ATP while working in a biological field is funny.
How common a name is hasn't really phased me. I've grown up with an indigenous name so I'm not exactly unfamiliar with having an uncommon name people struggle to pronounce. Really not having to spell things out and teach people pronunciation would be a nice change.
So now I turn it to any of you out there in the void if anyone has any thoughts. I'd give a personality description if I knew how to describe myself but y'know feel free to ask questions if that gives people thoughts
TLDR:
Trans guy needs help naming himself. Ideally something starting with A and/or a meaning roughly linked to shadow or theory with a more masc feel to it but really any suggestions are welcome
