Clearance/Tolerance Main Journals and Connecting rod
Connecting Rod bearing #2 got spun and had some deep scratches on its journal, I decided to replace the crankshaft because its severely out of round. The new crankshaft measured: (using green plastigauge):
Connecting Rod tolerance: (all old bearings except #2)
- 0.001" (0.025mm) (a bit less)
- 0.001" (0.025mm) (new bearing)
- 0.001" (0.025mm)
- 0.001" (0.025mm)
Service manual: 0.00138"-0.00232" (0.035-0.059mm)
Main Journal tolerance: (all old bearings)
- 0.001" (0.025mm)
- 0.002" (0.051mm)
- 0.001" (0.025mm) (a bit less)
- 0.001" (0.025mm)
- 0.0015" (0.038mm)
Service manual: 0.00055"-0.00146" (0.014-0.038mm)
My thoughts:
1.) I am suspecting Main Journal #2 has too much tolerance causing less oil flow into Conrod Journal #2 - is this correct?
2.) I noticed the specifications had a slightly tighter tolerance on the main journals than on the connecting rods, but with this new(old) crankshaft, this new one I got has the Main journals in range, but the conrod journals looking a bit tight - is this going to be ok?
