I love the Together cards, but it needs one major feature
I find that the together cards really makes me consider my paras’ emotions when engaging socially. If you want to flirt, you should get them in the right mood first, and if you neglect your paras’ needs and emotions you aren’t gonna do well. It brings an engaging layer of strategy and challenge that I haven’t seen in this genre since Sims 1 and 2. It needs some tweaks and expansion, and I get how it can be frustrating if you’re used to having full control over everything, but I think it’s fundamentally a great idea.
My major issue with it is that you are always the one taking initiative in the conversation, making conversations feel very one-sided. I want to get a sense of what the other para’s personality, wants and needs are without having to directly ask them. A while ago the devs showed off an ability for NPC paras to take initiative, including offering you a job and wanting to kiss you, but I haven’t seen it happen in-game yet. I hope they implement it and go even further with it. For example, if another para flirts with you, you could reciprocate, ignore it, take it as a joke or reject them in a dramatic fashion, all depending on your personality and mood. There’s a lot of potential there.
It’s possible that they have delayed implementing this system until the planned autonomy overhaul and story progression update, as you probably need those cornerstones for NPC-initiated interactions to feel coherent. I’m just excited for the sheer potential of it.
