92 Ford Bronco 5.0 E4OD limp mode after rebuild. Need ideas..

Top of the Morning to all. Soooo about 2 months ago my transmission went up. The day it went up it was slipping bad, then boom! The shop I took it to sent it out to be rebuilt, it was upgraded with 4r100 internals, and has a punisher Valve body. The guy that rebuilt it said that it seems like something locked up cause there was shavings throughout the Trans that clogged up the filter. Now the transmission was driving fine until the day it went up. The shop claimed some wires were damaged and they had to do some repairs to it...ie new pigtail and some wired further up that branch.

Well now the truck is back together and now it's in limp mode....which it wasn't when the Trans went out. I had the PCM checked a few months before the Trans went up, it looked good. I've asked if there are any codes several times and he always says he's not sure and has to see. I know it's OBD 1, but come on!? And no hes talking about, well we might have to pull out the harness and whatnot? Keep in mind, there are only 2 sets of wires that go to the trans, and you can physically see that the wiring from the PCM till about the bottom of the firewall is good. So I came here to see if anyone had some possible areas for me to check?

My plan is to take my obd1 reader up there today and pull the KOEO codes. Other than codes associated with the solenoid, are there any other codes I should keep an eye out for that would throw it into limp mode?

I'll post the results later today after I go up there.

I also plan to take my multimeter...can I test the solenoid pack without having to remove it? Like can I probe into wire just like I would probe into the solenoid pack connector itself to do an ohm check? ....or would probing into the wire throw the reading off? That way I can test the pigtail connection and the solenoid pack at the same time?

So if it turns out to not be the solenoid, I plan on double checking the right wires were spliced together. If that looks good, I'll check the grounds. The TPS and VSS were checked and are functioning accordingly and the when we drove it around the parking lot with the pressure guage on it, it was at all the right pressures for the gears it was in. So pressure is good. Are their any specific fuses I should double check? And are there any other systems or connections that would throw it into limp mode? Overdrive system wiring? MLPS?

So to recap my questions...

Any specific fuses or relays I should check?

Can I ohm test the solenoid pack from probing into the wire a little above the connector?

Would anything in the overdrive system throw into limp mode?

Does the cruise control system need to be hooked up for the trans to function properly?* When we were testing it, they had the cruise control system out to get easier access to the pcm I'm assuming..

Anything else I can check while I'm there?

All ideas welcomed.....

Thanks again!

Anthony
