Once I was a rose

It’s been a while. Wrote it in five minutes on a building feeling.

Once I was a rose
A peeping bulb and stem
I grew and grew
My Gardner cut me down
But then I grew again
Once I was a rose
Born to the sun
Angled out from the cutting
Odd and slightly sunk
Now I am a rose, I think
They tell me that is so
But I’m kinked and torn
In all sorts of ways
From the things my flesh endured
But, I am a rose they say,
And seeds shall surely fall.
Build a fence and pick the weeds,
This offspring should grow full.
For I’ve never been a rose
That grew up fully right
But for the seeds that fall from me
The future should be bright.
