I actually do listen to t.a.t.u...some people feel they're homophobic/queer baiters and I do agree that to an extent the whole premise of tatu (how they were marketed and not really gay except for the bi girl) is gross but its all in good fun and I like their music and find their sound refreshing and just like the lesbian vibe...they kind of remind me of depeche mode in sound. I also really like javiera mena, akriila, amaarae, the internet, and team dresch....any lesbian artists you guys like?

Has anyone read Pearl S. Buck's work?

Literally picked up her book "The Good Earth" in my local library at random a few months ago and decided to read it because it looked interesting and it was great. I just finished "Imperial Woman" this evening and also thought it was also brilliant. I find her perspective as a daughter of white Christian missionaries growing up in China very interesting, apparently her first language was Chinese.

I also will say I think I enjoyed "Imperial Woman" more than "The Good Earth" but both were great, I couldn't put them down. "The Good Earth" is her most popular and acclaimed.

"Imperial Woman" is a fictionalized account of Empress CIxi and The Good Earth deals with a farmer in rural China. Both couldn't be more different though they're both backdropped in China and deal heavily with Chinese culture, history, and customs.

I think I related to Imperial Woman a bit more, it was hard to root for the main character in The Good Earth because he was (spoiler) not a very good person (though I understand that's the point of the novel). Of course, Cixi in Imperial Woman was pretty morally bankrupt as well, but I was still rooting for her, maybe because she was a proto-feminist figure and a strong woman though she had her vices.

I also appreciate the non linear narrative that focused on an entire life rather than just a single even in a person's life like many novels and stories in general do. This was the case for both The Good Earth and Imperial Woman.

Her writing is incredibly simple but gorgeous. I really really like her prose. It makes her books readable and enjoyable.

Give me specifics on drinks you regularly get. Do you drink a special tea at night? Plain black coffee in the morning? Specialty drink from your local tea and coffee shop? Non caffeinated? I usually have sparkling grapefruit water and some teas, usually a black iced tea in the summer in the mornings and for lunch. I also have jasmine green tea in the afternoon, iced or hot depending on the season. A recent herbal tea buy I've tried is linden tea, its quite good, I have it to relax in the evenings as its a mild sedative.

Its been a particularly rainy week here on the east coast in the US, i was supposed to get my period two weeks from now but it came like two days ago. Ive noticed the past three times ive gotten my period its always been raining…is it barometric pressure or something? Am i on to something here?
