Got outed as trans to GP - GP is supportive and wants to offer shared care
I thought since I so often read bad things & doom and gloom I'd share a nice story.
I got outed to my GP after some mental health troubles and as a result they booked an appointment to discuss what had gone on and also to find out about the hormone things that had been passed onto them.
I told her I was injecting, that I had done AA's in the past but didn't anymore. I told her the estrogen levels and testosterone levels I was aiming for, she asked what I was injecting and where I got it from. I told her it was online but only from places that had a proven track record and provided lab testing of their drugs.
She asked why I didn't go through the NHS and I said (honestly) because I expected I'd be in a waiting queue for 5-8 years from my own experience and she agreed that wait times can be very long, she then said that many places will not offer shared care and have no interest in it but her surgery was not like that and she was completely happy to offer shared care for what I need provided I go to a gender clinic for her to do shared care with.
It's not always a negative experience with the system.
