First arm pump

Got my very first arm pump. Little girl on a golf cart at a golf course from all of places. It was so sudden that I almost missed it. The golf bridge crossed the interstate and she arm pumped. Gave her three good blows just to acknowledge. It was awesome.

Wild fire

Be careful driving on I 15 near south west Utah. The wild fire from Widemouth 2 is still going strong days later. Filling the major nearby areas with heavy smoke, even by Salt Lake. Crazy thing to see in the middle of night.

Truck stop calories

There’s too many good food truck stops across the country. Too many snacks and restaurants attached to the truck stops. Be mindful of just grabbing food as you fuel. Track your spending and mind your calories.

Passing through on a layover

Downtown Montgomery has been a surprisingly amazing experience as a black American. I highly recommended taking time out to take in Commerce Street and Dexter Avenue. Soak in as much history as possible. The first and only confederate White House, the state capital MLK marched from Selma to, even the the main slave trading avenue’s, down to the riverfront. Great coffee at the Prevail Union.

Learn as you go

I’m new to otr but I’ve been driving cars and small buses for years. Trucking felt like the natural next step forward. The school didn’t teach all the the nuances of being on the road like how to navigate shipping / receiving, how to get your tandems exactly to the hole you need, how to work the fuel island, weigh stations, when to use Jake brakes. But I’m two weeks in and I learned fast that in this industry you have to just learn as you go. The good thing is a lot of other drivers are more helpful than I anticipated. I heard the trucking community has became less welcoming of rookie drivers but that hasn’t been my case at all.
