The five year gap is a gun always pointing to the feet of the monsterverse
One mistake, at least for me, created by mike was the fact that Godzilla went missing for five years doing absolutely nothing. Not only it takes away a lot of possible stories and events involving the character, but also, since monarch season 2, every time Godzilla appears in this gap, it will generate debate if the canon is being destroyed or not.
This is one thing I wish they retconed.
