Kingdom Building
Hi there,
I have been playing City of Mist with some friends for a few sessions and have been wanting to start LitM for a while. I now have an idea and a few possible players.
I would like to do a kind of Isekai/A Yankee at King Arthur’s Court campaign. So modern day people grown into a rustic fantasy world where they become the protectors of a little village and keep (an maybe one day much more)
I have at least one player who would like a bit of crunch or at least economics and resource management. I have seen the Strangers from Afar Trope and and also the dominion themebooks. But I was thinking of how to give some more crunchy settlement management and tag usage and then the boots on the ground adventure.
Only comparable thing I could find was kingmaker and that is way to crunchy to be fun for me.
Does anyone play something similar and have tips on how to do this effectively? Also interested in how to make characters that are modern but have a reason to be special in a fantasy world. So I was thinking their modern themes will break or evolve into more fantasy ones the doctor become the healer because he supplements his knowledge with spells now. Or the programmer become a runemage or whatever. So tips for making these kinds of character arcs would also be welcome.
I kind of still struggle a bit with the rules. I think they are awesome and I get the basic ideas but some things break my brain after 20 years of DnD. Maybe tips for how to be brave with homebrew and what rules are optional and what I should focus on getting down. (I struggle with working with consequences and tags/statuses and how to design good challenges)
So yeah thankful for any advice.
