Which is your favorite/preferred Foundry System for playing LitM?

So I've been rummaging around on Foundry and noticed that there are quite a few Foundry Systems for Legend in the Mist and was curious which ones people liked or prefered.

The ones I've seen so far are:

  • Legend in the Mist: Demo by Filip Ambrosius
  • Legend in the Mist: Unofficial Community Edition by coreyhickson
  • City of Mist (Using Mist Engine HUD) by Taragnor
  • Legend in the Mist Unofficial by Filip Ambrosius
  • Legend in the Mist Official by MrTheBino

How do you handle non-tag-based inventory?

One thing I really like about this game is that not everything needs mechanics. Your character has clothes, but you don't have to find their value in gold pieces and subtract it from the starting gold.

That said, what about things they find that are important (for example quest items) but not powerful. They might find a toy they wanted to bring back to a village kid, for example. Does everyone just keep a journal with the stuff they picked up that is not relevant for their actions? Or do you write it in the backpack, and it just becomes inactive after the next rest?

How do you guys handle it?

(for context: my players picked up toys that will become relevant in the story, but not in a way that requires power. They can trade them to a kid, but that will be a simple success, with no rolls necessary).

Printer friendly character sheet/theme cards?

Hello, I just preordered the book and am very excited to try it out with friends! I typically play in person, and was wondering if there's an easy way to print a physical character sheet?

In the character making section, the PDF book just says "record [the Hero's] details on printed cards from the Theme Card Pack or on the character sheet at the back of this book," but that one is in full color and thus not very nice to print, and I don't necessarily want to buy the whole theme card pack, but unless I'm missing something it feels almost required?

Very worst case I could make my own simple version to print for my players but that feels like a weird oversight on the designer's part.

I’m Amit Moshe, Founder of Son of Oak Games and creator of Legend In The Mist RPG -- Ask Me Anything!

Hey all,

I'm Amit, creator of Legend In The Mist (LitM) and founder of Son of Oak Game Studio.

I'm 45, I live in Boston with my husbear Mark, and I just had a delicious chocolate croissant (I know, it's not what it's called) from a great local bakery/coffeeshop (Tatte).

So with that covered, I'm ready to answer any questions you may have, especially about Son of Oak, our games, the Mist Engine with its stateless tag-based mechanics, future plans, Legend In The Mist and its creation process, the Hearts of Ravnesdale setting, indie publishing or anything really.

About Legend In The Mist

If you haven't been following, Legend In The Mist is a rustic fantasy TTRPG that is also a universal, description-based game engine which can support any fantasy (or other) setting and includes solo/GMless play in the core rules. It was Kickstarted in 2024 to the tune of $855,000, was voted 2025's Most Anticipated TTRPG, and was the Top-Rated TTRPG of 2025 on DriveThruRPG (the most 5-star reviews). You can try it with the free comic book tutorial , a free quickstart (demo) game, as well as a free 5e crossover guide.

LaunchFest!

Legend In The Mist coming in print next month (yay!) and we're having a big party to welcome it, titled LaunchFest, with daily content drops and lots of events. Ending June 17th, LaunchFest is the last chance to preorder the game at up to 40% off retail price after which you get an instant download of the PDFs and can start playing. (There are also bundles for retailers!)
Check it out here: https://sonofoak.com/pages/legend-in-the-mist-rpg-launch-fest

One of our most interesting upcoming events is a stream this Thursday with YouTube legend Dungeon Dad, discussing the differences between DnD and LitM: https://youtube.com/live/w4mWzQEtAAs

Thank You!

The TTRPG community's reaction to Legend In The Mist has really touched the Son of Oak team so deeply (myself, Alejandra, Eran, Manuel, Kelly, Itamar, we're too many to list...). As creators, especially of a game that's quite different from traditional RPGs, we were just incredibly delighted to find so many players wanted that - a simple, narrative, yet highly flexible and customizable game, where you choose the crunch level in every action and where any conflict can take center stage, combat or not.

This week I was really moved by this review by Darren on DriveThruRPG:

>It took a while to work out the rules, which did not seem anywhere near as easy to follow as the book proclaimed. But, wow, when it clicked this product suddenly became fabulous. Character creation is adorable. Superbly presented. I think this is the best game in decades.

Switching to a statless, classless game is definitely a paradigm shift for most traditional TTRPG players (not so much for new players, we've found!), but I was so thrilled that Darren found the magic and creative freedom that await once you make that leap...

Anyway - now to your questions!

Legend In The Mist / Amit Moshe AMA on r/rpg Tue 5/12 12pm-2pm ET

Hey all,

I'm Amit, creator of Legend In The Mist and founder of Son of Oak Game Studio.

Legend In The Mist is arriving in print next month and we're already in the midst of the LaunchFest countdown event.

As part of LaunchFest, I'll be here on r/rpg for an AMA session next Tuesday at 12pm ET, to talk about the tag-based engine, how to balance narrative with tactical, rustic fantasy, and whatever else you'd like to ask.

If you haven't heard of LitM yet, I'm proud to share its digital version was 2025's top-rated game on DriveThruRPG - receiving more organic reviews and 5 star ratings than any other game published that year (even those that presumably sold many more copies). We've worked hard on this one, so it's a darn good feeling to see that fans love the outcome.

Anyway, we'll talk about all that on Tuesday!
