Clonidine help

Hi all

I have diagnosed ADHD (combined hyperactive) and a long history of delayed sleep phase (grew up before devices and the internet etc)

Currently not taking meds for ADHD but took them for 10+ years

Already booked in to see my old prescribing GP but won't be free until late September as they're a specialist GP

During my current raw dogging phase, I needed some help with school performance anxiety and was prescribed Lexapro

Familiar with the med, does nothing for my ADHD in fact I get a bit worse but... Nothing too crazy and then the lex tends to make you more stress resilient and chill overall so it's like... In a way you care less about it

So it was all going good and then I got stuck in this weird sleep pattern where I was wide awake until 9-10am which has never happened to me

I go to the same doctor who prescribed the lex and saw another at the practice and no one mentions that lex can cause sleep latency issues and have a negative effect on sleep architecture

So I find this out after seeing them and just using AI

I don't have time to waste I have to attend classes or I can lose my place at school

So I taper back a lil and voila the first night my bedtime shifts back and I now go to bed at 4-6am

Still too late for me. I have classes and my normal rhythm was 11pm-1.30am bedtime with 9am wake

So I then call a Nurse Practitioner cause they give excellent patient education and I wasn't getting anywhere at the GPs

They tell me about Clonidine and some others like Seroquel and Mirtazapine used off label for this circadian rhythm issue

So I go online and start researching clonidine

Turns out this is prescribed off label for insomnia and also is an approved drug for use in treating certain ADHD sleep related issues

When I go to the GP they say they are unaware of this being used for anything besides hypertension and migraines

So I ask if there's someone else who has experience with ADHD and DSPD etc there and they said they'd ask around

All good

The ADHD guidelines that are endorsed mention Clonidine is approved for use in ADHD

It's an S4 anti hypertensive that anyone can apparently prescribe off label

However... This is a private prescription cause it's off label

So I'm wondering who here knows about Clonidine and might know a GP who is familiar with ADHD and delayed sleep phase and has prescribed Clonidine

I think that's the issue - im seeing GPs who aren't trained in ADHD or these issues and they're doing the right thing by not prescribing stuff outside of their area of knowledge

So it's just about me finding a GP to start my clonidine trial now, fix the issue that is affecting me right now and my schooling

And next month I'll go back to my old prescribing GP and get back on my ADHD meds and talk about Clonidine and Guan as secondary treatments

Cause I plan to keep taking the lex, it has been effective but it's just this issue of my sleep cycle also being pushed way out

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated

Shah fragrances dhoop sticks

Some new incense today

Satya Dragons blood - if you like this DB then try New Moon DB, it’s intoxicatingly good. Like Satya but dialled up.

Hem Precious Musk - pleasantly surprised with this one! Once lit it smells quite different to unlit. A nice floral musk. Leans towards a nice perfume style versus funky animal musk. No funk.

Overall have enjoyed the precious series by Hem. Gulab, Lavender, Chandan and Musk are stand out. Enjoy their Black Opium and the Baby Powder on occasion too.

Shah Fragrances - these are a thick dhoop stick. I don’t have a lot to compare with but preferred them outdoors over indoors.

Not sure if it’s a dhoop thing maybe?

Hello hello

Slowly working through my local shops Kamini range 🙃

Disregard the Superhit by Satya at the end

One thing Ive noticed with Kamini overall is some scents you get a nice projected fragrance once lit - others become muted or need to be enjoyed at a distance. In fact I feel their entire range isnt great close up.

I was trying these in a very well ventilated area that can handle Cycle, Hem charcoal, Tulasi Charcoal etc but these Kamini may need a retest outdoors cause I haven’t found a sweet spot for enjoying them just yet

Anyway onto reviews

Musk pictured here has a wonderful scent unlit - like a men’s cologne or car air freshener. But once it’s lit the scent isnt fun up close it did something to my nose when I accidentally inhaled some smoke :(

Butt Naked has been reviewed elsewhere - but it’s a blue fruity scent when unlit… once lit, it reminds me of a soft jasmine and white floral and light fresh notes of florals found in baby powder and generic baby products. Very delicate sorta cosy skin scent. Would I buy this again? No. But others love it. Hem Baby Powder as a comparison, you get a baby powder scent and once in a while I dont mind that one. This incense is a matter of preference and I can see why it has some fans

Vanilla - is a gentle floral leaning vanilla and quite inoffensive but won’t stand out if you have a lot of vanilla incense already. For example. Hem Vanilla is fragranced and like birthday cake which makes it interesting. This one is a bit quiet. Reminded me a bit of Tulasi Vanilla in the charcoal in its subtlety. I didn’t enjoy either of these.

Another one not pictured here is their Coconut. I tried it years ago and it leans a bit sickly and aldehydic and sweet so it’ll be interesting if anyone has tried any of these and can offer a different opinion on them

Palo Santo is a winner within this brand - cant compare it to other Palo Santo but it’s got a decent scent, feels elegant enough and reminds me a bit of a Palo Santo men’s cologne unlit. Lit it’s got a nice projection and makes the home smell good. Not mind blowing but it stands out for Kamini

All in all, Kamini seem to be a bit of a gamble even if you smell them and buy them in store. Cause once lit you don’t know what they will do etc

Exception being Palo Santo and White Sage :) they overdeliver from what you can detect in store unlit

Looking forward to seeing what others enjoyed
