Looking for fics with complex family relationships for Shane or Ilya
This for both Ilya and Shane.
For Ilya, are there fics that explore more complex relationships between Ilya and Alexei or Grigori? Where they are written more multi-layered than just greedy and cruel respectively. I've seen some with Irina and Orthodoxy, but none with the two of them.
In his monologue, Ilya said "And it kills me that he cared about my father, and I didn't. But I couldn't. I wasn't here." It shows Ilya felt guilt and some sort of filial responsibility, and I'd love to see the origins of that better explored.
And as for Alexei, he can't have been born evil. Ilya must have recollections of a version of him that was lovable, that he looked up to.
For Shane, it's kind of canonical that his parents are super supportive, but I'm looking for an AU I guess where their expectations apply a little more pressure on Shane? Either with him liking men in general or liking Ilya specifically. Perhaps they are supportive of him in private but urge him to not come out for "his own sake." Personally, I was almost startled with how amazing canon Shane's parents were, and I'd be interested in seeing something more aligned to the world I live in, I guess.
