What are some fics you are downloading for the ao3 shutdown on friday? I prefer lighthearted stuff or at least HEA

I just finished this fic. I'm sure it's been posted and recommended here many times.

But I JUST FINISHED IT AND IT WAS SO GOOD AND I have a lot of feelings now.

Like perfect amount of sex and angst and pining and hot and characterization and Shane being a little menace and Ilya being a sad boy but still a menace and a sprinkle of marleau being the chillest (which is my favourite side plot thing).

Man this one is really fcking good (can we swear in this sub??)

Summary:

Ilya widens his eyes, moves his hands in an impatient “get on with it” motion. He has the urge to say it for him, end both their misery. Shane blinks rapidly a few times, takes another deep breath. “I want to stop,” he says simply.

Ilya lets out one humorless laugh, “Stop what?”

Shane ignores him. “At the All Star Game, I told you I liked you. And you said about Russia and your family. And I looked some things up. I get it. I get it better now. I know we can’t but I can’t stop wanting to be…more. Unless we stop.”

Shane just wants to be friends and Ilya is, like, fine with that or whatever

This is such a lovely fic. Had me going awww the whole why through. So full of love. I enjoyed it so so much. A top notch feel good fic! Please give this a chance.

I finished Find Your Way Back Home (10000/10 fic, no notes) and was an absolute goner for the beginning where they’re just platonic best friends in a very emotionally secure / positive masculinity way where they cuddle, hold hands, etc. The energy/crushing/flirting before they actually kiss just builds and builds over the years and it’s adorable to see them so close in a physical way but not immediately jump to hooking up.

(I needed to be resuscitated after the club dancing scene btw.)

Looking for more similar-to-canon fics where they aren’t in a situationship era (I’m not into AUs where they’re not hockey players, get with other people sans Rose, or divorced with kids, etc.), but just have massive crushes on each other and are so physically close & flirty already that you’re just screaming JUST KISS ALREADY!!!

Policy Change Chapter 13

Went to bed early and woke up at 4 AM to this!! Fingers crossed that we get another one this week.

I'm worried about>!whatever Shane discussed with Petrov. Did he reveal anything? And did anyone actually see Shane with the bartender?!<

I would really like Shane to get to come out on his own terms. But he's such an unreliable narrator that I'm worried things are happening around him without him noticing and will come crashing down on him.

What I reaaaally want is for Ilya to get back in the picture soon, I miss him and am worried about him. Shane is surrounded by friends and family and coming out publicly is slowly becoming possible. Ilya only has Svetlana, his dying sick father and asshole brother, and the memory of Shane yelling and then leaving. ESPECIALLY BAD because it's of his own doing.

This is one of my favorite troupes and it’s criminally under written in HR. Need any and all best friends who are CLEARLY in love and dating but they don’t know it.

Just wanted to share this brilliant series. "Singing the Song of Arenas" by SafelyCapricious. The works are all pretty short, with the longest few around 3k words, but very tightly written and create a very unique world in a short time.
