6 World Cups is just unnatural longevity. Will anyone from the new generation ever touch this record? 🏆
Portugal just dropped their official roster for the 2026 World Cup, and yep—Cristiano Ronaldo is STILL on it. This will be his SIXTH consecutive World Cup. At 41 years old, the man is simply built different.
He started this journey all the way back in 2006. To put that into perspective, some of the wonderkids playing in this tournament were literally in diapers when CR7 scored his first World Cup goal. This is almost certainly his Last Dance, but what an absolute ride.
We all know hitting 5 World Cups is already legendary status. Only a select few elites have ever cracked that club: Ronaldo, Messi, Matthäus, Buffon, and the Mexican icons (Antonio Carbajal, Rafa Márquez, Guardado, and Ochoa). This year, Luka Modrić and Yuto Nagatomo are also about to join the 5-club. Major respect.
But SIX? In 2026, we are looking at an exclusive club of potentially just three human beings in the history of the beautiful game: Ronaldo, Messi, and maybe Ochoa if he locks in his spot for Mexico.
Look at the stats these two GOATs are bringing to the table:
🇵🇹 CR7: Most international caps and goals in history (226 apps, 143 goals).
🇦🇷 Messi: Most World Cup appearances in history (26 matches, and about to add more).
It’s genuinely hard to wrap my head around the absolute discipline, peak physical conditioning, and insane luck with injuries you need to stay world-class for 20 straight years.
Seriously, how hard is it to play in 6 World Cups? Do you think anyone from the new gen (Mbappé, Haaland, Yamal) will ever touch this record, or is this a once-in-a-century anomaly? Let's debate. 👇
