[IN] how to proceed
I am the custodial parent. Father has been exercising supervised visitation for 18 months due to mental health issues.
Had a review hearing April 1st. The GAL reported for the court to make the decision on whether supervision remains in place. His attorney had his NP testify on his progress/status, my attorney objected due to not being a forensic psychologist so a true in depth evaluation was never done. Requested full psych eval, the judge said only if I’m going to take responsibility for paying for it because he doesn’t feel it’s necessary. The judge said the psychologist they use in this area would run me $4000. Of course I agreed. Temp order until psych eval is done is a step up plan, 2 hours sup. Following 3 unsupervised. Hearing will be set when eval is complete. I was NOT given a deadline of when this had to be paid for, just within 6 months.
The office needed a retainer to schedule the appointment with remaining due the day of evaluation. Total cost 4200, retainer 1200. It took me until this week to save up the retainer. The scheduler tells his attorney she can now secure him a slot. Apparently his attorney signed him up for the June 2nd appointment - literally next week - because the doctor’s only options were next Tuesday due to a cancellation or in September.
I feel like this should’ve been consulted with my attorney. How can they schedule the appointment without confirming I have the funds? If I don’t come up with 3 grand by Tuesday the evaluation won’t happen.
I got the email from my attorney late last night around 11 pm so I haven’t gotten to speak to her about this.
