How to help married couple’s ASD and ADHD brains meet in the middle?

I want to be open and say I am not officially diagnosed, but have worked with kids on the spectrum for over a decade and know how it can present. I certainly have traits I’ve struggled with my entire life that place me on the spectrum but not worth the formal diagnosis since I don’t really need any special services.

My husband is afflicted with ADHD. He hears every tiny sound in his environment and is easily distractible and able to shift attention rapidly between tasks when needed. I have the opposite challenge. When I’m intensely interested or focused on something, I am hyper-focused, to the point where my husband and family always thinks I’m tuning them out. I’m not purposely ignoring, but my brain just doesn’t always perceive if there’s “noise” that’s being directed towards me, so I can’t always shift my attention quickly. My husband’s ADHD makes it hard for him to wait for a response or to know if I’m listening because he just jumps into whatever he wants to say without any clear signal, then gets annoyed if I’m not listening.

It’s just the two of us in our household and we don’t plan to have kids, so when I suggested he just call my name to check on my attention level, he just said I’m the only one here so he wouldn’t be talking to anyone else. I think we are both valid with these points, so I’m not sure how we can try to meet in the middle going forward.

Any friends on here who have a similar issue and can give suggestions for what has helped them?

PDF/electronic access to Muldowney Protocol?

Does anyone have a link to a free resource that might have parts of the Muldowney protocol available? I went through the SIJ portion of it in PT and wanted access to organize the visuals of the exercises for personal use.

I'm trying to find 1 or 2 most clinically valuable/applicable trainings for use of the EFL. I've used the Essential 8 Quick Assessment, but would like to become more familiar with scoring the assessment as a whole, as I believe it would be great to add to my knowledge base. I know there are several trainings directly on the EFL site but am not sure where to start or if there are a couple that are more clinically valuable than others. I never know if free/low cost/priced trainings differ enough in content and quality to make a difference before committing. Any insights?
