MS in EE in Germany: Is the job market as saturated for core fields as it is for CS?
I just finished my 3rd year of BTech in ECE at a decent state engineering college in India (not an elite IIT but definitely just below them, ~8 CGPA, top 10% of my department. I know I have a decent neither good nor bad profile.. just trying to be realistic here).
I'm planning to apply for my Master's in Germany in 2027. I am heavily targeting research-focused programs in Eelctrical Engineering (Signal Processing, Radar Systems, Microelectronics and Embedded Systems) at universities like TU Darmstadt, RWTH Aachen, FAU Erlangen-Nürnberg, Uni Stuttgart, etc. Also I don't wanna do masters just for a better job (ofc its of the goals but not the core goal). I genuinely just want to study more and learn more.
I’m seeing a ton of doom-posting about the German tech job market being completely saturated. Almost all of this seems to be from software/CS grads.
My questions for people working in the German semiconductor, automotive, or hardware space:
- Is the job saturation hitting EE roles as well?: Are companies (like Bosch, Infineon, NXP, Rohde & Schwarz) still actively hiring entry-level engineers for radar, DSP, and hardware-software co-design?
- Language Hurdle: will be starting my German prep mostly after getting admitted, meaning I’ll probably arrive with just A1/A2 and will need to grind the language during my Master's. Is it completely unrealistic to expect to find a Work-student job in SP/Radar with beginner German during my first couple of semesters?
Any honest, blunt advice is appreciated from you seniors... Thank you...
