I’m looking for some encouragement.
I was on HRT a few years ago during peri, when I had my first hot flashes. I didn’t stay on the estrogen patch long because it worsened my heavy bleeding. I did continue taking oral progesterone, though.
All that was before my MCAS symptoms started. Now I’m almost in menopause and the severe hot flashes returned a month ago. I’m seriously considering restarting estrogen but am scared of exacerbating my MCAS symptoms, which are primarily GI and respiratory. During the past year, I’ve been very sensitive to hormonal fluctuations. My MCAS symptoms always seemed to worsen with any surge or drop in estrogen, and I’m hoping that once my hormone levels stabilize, I’ll be able to tolerate HRT estrogen.
Has anyone been able to tolerate a low dose estrogen patch? If so, did your MCAS symptoms worsen at all initially?
Only positive experiences, please. I know the potential downside but am having major health anxiety and am trying to get up the courage to do it.
