Am i missing something? How are you guys defending this?

Its a bleak, depressing movie where the characters are doomed to die in an inescapable apocalypse that will destroy the earth (rogue planet will collide with earth), and the entire movie is the characters having to come to terms with it, main character is depressed and has already excepted it, most of the other characters are in constant denial, but eventually have to face reality.
It doesn’t necessarily have to be an apocalypse, but the general idea that the characters are knowingly doomed, should be a very heavy and immersive book
Any recommendations you guys have are welcome except graphic novels
