Not my post! I cropped out the username on purpose.

I agree that Euphoria has racism and misogyny problems in the way sam loves to demean all the women on the show but esp woc and trans women. Just bc a show has good diversity or the lead is a Black woman doesn't mean they're going to be treated well nor given good character arcs, Jules being glaring examples of that. You can tell that most of the returning cast w the exception of Sydney were checked out, idk how Sam feels if he's offended that they all think they're above them and if he believes he's the reason they're all so famous.

But I can see how there is deepness and meaning to be extracted from even this season as much of a shitshow as it was. We see how all the characters can't escape their past yet are complicit in keeping the systems that made their lives so hard alive such as Maddy still entertaining Cassie and Rue going back into the cartel world. I also don't find it realistic that even if they all went to the same high school that they'd be interacting w each other ALL the time as much as I wanted to see more of Jules and knew they could have figured something out. Maybe Rue's fate, as futile as it seemed, is bleak but realistic for many addicts bc she was that close.

And this isn't accounting for how good we had it in season 1 and sometimes 2, we saw the ups and downs of addiction, narcissism and abuse in relationships even post break-up, friendship betrayal, male validation, struggles w sexuality, etc but I want to know what you all think. This season is going to age like rotten milk BUT I still look back at S1 and half of S2 fondly.

Did she ever come across someone who out-diva'd her?

Excluding her direct collaborators and team members, a lot of ppl who have either worked on set w Ari or anybody she sees beneath her didn't have good encounters w her. Examples would be Jennette McCurdy, Josh Hutcherson, Elvira, Victoria Justice, that one guy from The Cab, Sophia and Rosie from Sam and Cat, that donut shop years ago and ofc her own fans at times.

But I can't help but wonder how she acts when she's working w a bigger household name in film and music. Scream Queens had Emma Roberts and Lea Michele, sure Ari was only on set for a few days but did she ever feel intimidated by Emma and Lea being bigger divas themselves? Plus her collab w Mariah Carey could NOT have been done w/o some tension. She's also collabed w Lana Del Rey and Miley Cyrus for that flop Charlie's Angels reboot and Nicki Minaj, Lady Gaga and The Weeknd. Lana and Nicki are allegedly known to be insufferable but the others I wonder if anyone in the industry shaded her and made her feel insecure about not being the biggest star in the room.

On tour she always had a healthy body

even in the eras when she looked worryingly skinny like my everything, dw and sometimes positions (though ppl might not count that bc she never toured but would perform live), when it was time to perform she got in good enough shape to keep up w the choreo and sing. sure she danced very minimally in the yours truly and positions era but her voice was way more powerful. her fans can’t blame it on lack of youth bc shes not actually old in the grand scheme of the pop star world and her peers Taylor and Beyoncé aren’t slowing down and are miles ahead of her in experience.

I hate the idea of her ripping herself apart when she looks back at these photos. there was nothing wrong with her body and she didn’t have anything she needed to lose.
