Not my post! I cropped out the username on purpose.
I agree that Euphoria has racism and misogyny problems in the way sam loves to demean all the women on the show but esp woc and trans women. Just bc a show has good diversity or the lead is a Black woman doesn't mean they're going to be treated well nor given good character arcs, Jules being glaring examples of that. You can tell that most of the returning cast w the exception of Sydney were checked out, idk how Sam feels if he's offended that they all think they're above them and if he believes he's the reason they're all so famous.
But I can see how there is deepness and meaning to be extracted from even this season as much of a shitshow as it was. We see how all the characters can't escape their past yet are complicit in keeping the systems that made their lives so hard alive such as Maddy still entertaining Cassie and Rue going back into the cartel world. I also don't find it realistic that even if they all went to the same high school that they'd be interacting w each other ALL the time as much as I wanted to see more of Jules and knew they could have figured something out. Maybe Rue's fate, as futile as it seemed, is bleak but realistic for many addicts bc she was that close.
And this isn't accounting for how good we had it in season 1 and sometimes 2, we saw the ups and downs of addiction, narcissism and abuse in relationships even post break-up, friendship betrayal, male validation, struggles w sexuality, etc but I want to know what you all think. This season is going to age like rotten milk BUT I still look back at S1 and half of S2 fondly.
