Mothers with ADHD, how do you cope with sudden changes and unpredictability?
I (36F) am a first time mother to a 3 month old baby girl. I love her to bits and I've generally enjoyed motherhood so far but something I'm REALLY struggling with is the sudden changes and unpredictability of having a baby. For example, she just started hitting a sleep regression and the overnight shift from being a good napper (contact naps, but good naps regardless) and good night sleeper (5-6 hour stretches in her bassinet) to fighting every nap and waking up every 3-4 hours again has really taken a toll on me and I find myself getting dysregulated and overwhelmed in a way I hadn't since the very early newborn days.
For reference I am medicated (Concerta) and it REALLY helps with sensory regulation and executive function but my emotions are still kind of all over the place specifically with the sudden changes. So my question is, do you have any strategies to cope? "Take it one day at a time" is good advice in theory but I don't know how to actually DO that, if that makes sense. Thanks!!
