It had just been a year since Dante decided to run away and things could certainly be going worse for him. He had found a stable job and a cheap but comfortable house in a small, rural town. Everything had gone his way. That is of course, if the fact that if his neighbours found out who be actually was, they would lynch him, was not taken into account.
The village was barely on any maps, located in the middle of nowhere with the closest civilization being far away. Nature surrounded the town in every direction and there was only an ancient dust road to go in and out but it was peaceful, and what Dante most desired was peace. Of course, being a rural town this small means that everyone knew each other. That also means that an outsider like he was would stand out immediately. The villagers had been suspicious of him for a long time, observing his every move, almost bordering on stalking, and time had to pass for them to get used to him. But they eventually had. It helped that Dante kept to himself, was polite and involved himself with the community, but not excessively. It was also helped that he had taken the job of librarian in the library, vacant for more than a decade.
