Change in discharge smell when dry??
I’ve had to come here because I’m starting to send myself into a spiral, my discharge is normal in texture etc but when I touch with my finger and smell it it’s smells normal, like now I normally smell, but when it dries to has a faintly fishy note to it? And this is literally every day. I don’t smell anything abnormal in my day to day life or whenever I meet my long distance boyfriend and we have sex, only when I test for it by touching my discharge with my finger and letting it dry then smelling it. This has been going on for monthssss and it’s making me feel crazy. [[keep in mind I take vaginal probiotics daily, use dove sensitive bar soap, drink a lot of water and don’t use scented products]]
I’ve taken metronidazole for it a couple times without really doing a vaginal swab because bv was my initial thought but my symptoms don’t really match up with bv apart from it smelling faintly fishy when dry. When I take metronidazole it goes away but always ends up coming back, but I would only know when I go and check for it by touching my discharge and letting it dry.
I went a couple months without treating it with metronidazole and continued to take probiotics and do everything by the book to see if it would go away but no change. Finally I went to the sexual health clinic, explained everything and did a vaginal swab, everything came back fine and I DID NOT have bv. That was months ago and I’m still dealing with the same problem, I don’t know what to do anymore and it’s sending me into an anxious loop where I keep checking.
But in all honesty I did get bv once after using detol soap on my vagina not knowing it was an anti bacterial, I just feel like things have not been the same regardless of the swab test coming back negative for bv :(
