2nd Story Window Install

I'm looking for some advice on adding a window to my second floor. I am a professional contractor and have installed lots of windows but mostly to newer homes and new construction. My house has a sandstone foundation and a hip and ridge roof. The long walls, I'm told, are the weight-bearing walls. With that said, my house was built in 1907, so I'm sure it's pretty settled. I want to cut in a brand new window at the top of my steps on the second floor, which is on the long wall. Shouldn't I just be able to cut the hole for the window and at most put a header in? It really shouldn't be that difficult, should it? Any actual advice would be greatly appreciated because my wife wants this done yesterday. Lol
