These sweet kitties need sponsorship for spay/neuter - cats in Jamaica

Hi everyone, these sweet kitties are on the waiting list for a neuter grant. Please consider giving a grant gift to help them get their surgeries done in May-June.

In Jamaica, the lowest cost for a spay or neuter surgery is about $65 USD, which is still not affordable for many cat owners. Through our Neuter Grant Program, we help low income cat owners reduce the cost so their cats can be fixed and prevent more unwanted kittens, abandoned pregnant cats, and male cats being put out because they are in heat. Recently we've had an influx of applications for grants. Your support helps us keep this program alive!

A grant gift for one cat is $35 USD or $5000 JMD. The owner pays the remaining balance, and together we are able to change their future.

You can donate a portion or fully sponsor a cat. 💝

Street cats make great pets if you give them a chance 🩷

Look at these beautiful transformations of Jamaican street cats (Jamaicats) 🩷 All they need is a chance.

That gap between the “Before” and “After” is the rescue and that’s where Your support comes in. We simply couldn’t do this work without our supawhero sponsors giving street cats in Jamaica hope and a second chance at survival. Thank you so much!

There are so many more rescue stories but we’ll share them in another post. In the past year, with your support, we’ve successfully placed 38 Jamaican street cats into loving homes.

Thank you to all sponsors and supporters making this possible. Thank you to all amazing adopters committed to giving rescued street cats the best life possible. We love getting updates of our former rescues living like they’ve never spent a day on the streets. ❤️

Can’t adopt? Sponsor a street cat instead: onlypawscatrescue.org/sponsor

OnlyPaws Cat Rescue's mission is to protect and advocate for street cats in Jamaica. Our cats often get abused, abandoned and left to suffer under harsh conditions but we are their voice, we are their hope and we will always stand for them! We will show the people of Jamaica that our cats deserve love and slowly change the perception of these animals here.

Someone finally choose Cheesecake ❤️

Thank you to everyone who shared Cheesecake’s story and sponsored this sweet boy. Today, a wholesome family showed up for him and took him to his new home. We couldn’t do this without you all, thank you for being Cheesecake’s supawheros. 🩷 He got lots of kisses today and we let him know he has fans around the world who care for him and want him to be safe.

Backstory: Cheesecake was a stray cat living at a Hospital compound in Kingston, Jamaica but the staff notice he was constantly being abused by the public and wanted to find him a safe home. His initial adopter never showed up for him and ghosted us. Maybe that wasn’t meant to be his home. He waited in his shelter cage for weeks while no one chose him. We posted his story online and he received so much love that we were able to add a happy ending to his story. ❤️

Cheesecake's adopter never showed up

Cheesecake needs a loving home and someone who will show up for him. Location: Kingston, Jamaica. He’s about 1 year old, male, neutered and vet checked.

Backstory: Cheesecake is a stray cat living at UWI Mona Hospital in Jamaica, where kind staff members would feed him when they could. He's been sleeping in the compound for over a year and one of the Doctors kept him and his mom in the hospital's store room during Hurricane Melissa. The Doctor who reported him to us said he was constantly being abused and chased away by the public and recently she saw someone kicked him really hard. This urged her to seek a safe home for him instead of life outside.

We offered to get him TNR’d, only to find out he was already neutered, meaning he may have once been someone’s pet before being abandoned or a kind person got him neutered and returned him.

We arranged an adoption for him, but his adopter never showed up. Now Cheesecake is still boarding at the shelter, still waiting for someone who will finally choose him and never let him down again. If you’re that person, please apply to adopt him.

Please support our spay/neuter program for cats in Jamaica

‼️ Cat owners in Jamaica are one of the main contributors to the stray cat overpopulation. Female cats are abandoned as soon as they get pregnant. Their kittens are continuously dumped or given away to others who will do the same. Male cats are left to roam, fight & impregnate more cats. Cats surrendered to shelters here are most likely to be euthanized due to limited resources & high intake. This is the reality.

Many Jamaican cat owners complain that they cannot afford to fix their cat even at the country’s lowest rate, which is why we started the OnlyPaws Neuter Grant program.

OnlyPaws helped to spay/neuter 60+ pet cats in the last 6 months through this program. Swipe to see some of the beautiful kitties that benefited from this program because of your sponsorship.

Currently, we can provide up to 10-15 neuter grants of $5000jmd ($35 USD) each month depending on sponsorship. That means Jamaican cat owners & colony caretakers can now pay as low as $2500jmd ($17 USD) to get their male cats fixed and $3500jmd ($25 USD) to get their female cats fixed.

We need YOUR support to help fix more cats & make a bigger impact.

Give a grant of $35 USD (or $5000jmd) to reduce street cat suffering and prevent owners from abandoning their cats simply because she’s pregnant or he’s spraying. Your donation goes directly to cats in need & makes a lifetime impact for them.

Today our sweet street cats Tuna and Sushi flew to the USA and will meet their new meowmmy in a few minutes!! No one in Jamaica choose them because this is where they belong. 🥹 I'm so happy they will no longer be living on the streets of Jamaica, they will be living the princess life they've always deserved! Recently we had an incident where Tuna & Sushi were being kicked by a man who lived on the same street and I'm so happy they don't have to experience that anymore. This video is short but I spent hours with them saying goodbye and they listened to every word.

Thank you everyone who sponsored Sushi and Tuna for over 8+ months after their TNR. We were able to care for them, ensure they get a meal everyday and vet care to survive the harsh streets and mean people. Because of YOU they survived, this is not just our adoption story, it's YOURS too! WE all did this guys! Thank you!!! 🩷

We are a small volunteer run project focused on helping street cats in Jamaica but have accomplished great things thanks to sponsorships. if you'd like to help Jamaican street cats when they need it the most: https://www.onlypawscatrescue.org/signup
