Avanti Helium may have just quietly cleared one of the more important pre-production regulatory hurdles for Sweetgrass.
The Montana Board of Oil and Gas Conservation has posted Order 95-2026 / Docket No. 240-2026, regarding Avanti Helium US, Inc.’s request for an exemption/exception related to venting or waste of gas from the Western Natural Gas 10-21 and 11-22 wells in Liberty County, Montana.

This applies to gas produced from the Flathead Formation, and the order notes that no protest was made against Avanti’s application.
Why I think this matters:
Avanti has been guiding toward mid-2026 first helium production at Sweetgrass. On April 14, the company said it had made the initial plant mobilization payment and was advancing the processing plant toward Montana. This new Montana BOGC order looks like another key box checked before production.
To be clear, this does not mean production has already started. They still need to complete plant relocation, installation, commissioning, and actually deliver first production. But for a tiny pre-production helium name, removing a regulatory overhang like this can matter a lot.
The market may not have fully noticed this yet because the Docket Status PDF still looks blank on the status line, but the actual Orders PDF contains the Avanti order.
