What ive observed and learned over the past day is that these testing companies like Function Health, and Viome and other Direct 2 Consumer testing companies have deeply corrupted consumer trust. With their pushy sort of hipster new gen business models giving vague reports, and advice causing anxiety and panic without much reason or explanation for a solution, and instead pushing expensive supplements and vitamin formulas or protocols through a subscription as a means to solve these problems, which is a core part of what caused customer mistrust. People seem to feel like they are a waste of time, and its a shame. I do see real value in these tests, genetic, dna, gi map, gut microbiome, and blood tests. There is real value and the science is constantly evolving and at a rapid pace. It just needs to be delivered differently. And with more actionable routes. Right now its like these companies are either fear mongering for you to spend more money, or they are just using there tests as a funnel for where they make their real money, which is through their expensive subscriptions containing bs supplements and powders and whatever else. We are in data rich but attention poor and execution poor world right now. So its no wonder these companies can somehwhat get away with stuff like this, at least the first time around. Anyways.
Has anyone ever used a personalized health service or lab test (e.g., DNA kits, microbiome testing, gi map tests, genetic tests, or comprehensive blood work)? Is it worth it? What was it like?
