PC help for dummies

i’m not sure where to begin for this. long story short, my now ex fiancé built my gaming pc setup in 2024. he was the computer wizz and handled everything. i am looking for any tips or info i need to know since we split a month ago and i can’t exactly ask him. i have a parts list of what is most of them bought from our shared amazon but that’s all i know. there’s been no hardware updates since it was built so i’m sure i’ll need to look into that soon and that’s where i’m starting my search i suppose. please give me ANY tips you can think of and explain it like you’re talking to a complete goof who knows absolutely nothing about computers. how long do parts last? what basic maintenance and hardware updates are most critical? i’m overwhelmed on where to start my research and what sources to trust most.
