I keep seeing these mobile service tire guys online with machines and balancers in their vans, and no matter how many of them i ask, i never quite get an answer. How does one keep a balancer calibrated in a van???

Does it get calibrated every time they pull up to a new site? Wouldn't a small shift in the van's weight while spinning throw the balance off?

Like i remember a shop i used to work at had a balancer that was never quite right until we moved the edge of it away from a small crack in the ground, and then it was fine. They're obviously sensitive machines, how could they possibly function to an acceptable standard in a van?

Do yall think it's just for show, like discount tire using torque-limiting extensions on torque wrenches instead of impacts?

Maybe i have it all wrong, and someone who works with these setups can explain how exactly it works
