Lawyer told me she doesn’t encourage mom’s to file paternity, I already did!
So, at some point another lawyer in the firm took over and when I asked her why I would keep pursuing for father to get custody on paper especially since we’re looking a possibly lower child support payments. She said she doesn’t usually encourage mom’s to file for paternity. She kind of beats around the his but encouraged me to finish it out. Dad was suppose to be having his lawyer write up the custody plan but has failed to do so and won’t communicate about it much. He barely calls and the supervised visits are coming to and end in a few weeks with nothing in place. There is DV involved but I continue to hear that the court won’t really take into account because he didn’t hurt the child. I’ve paid over 6k for nothing. If I push for more supervised time I’ll end up paying a GAL which I’m sure he will just manipulate.I’m paying so he can see his child which he doesn’t seem to care about. I do wish I had some help because I’ve missed work every time he’s sick and with my schedule child care is hard. I just don’t think it should be up to me to carry this and I thought they would fight harder for me. I don’t even know what to do anymore but I’m drained mentally and financially l.
