Even though I cleanse and moisturize properly my skin keeps getting oily my pores get clogged and I keep breaking out. I finally realized it might be because the products Ive been using are damaging my skin barrier.

What products do you think are the best for actually repairing the skin barrier?

I'm trying to switch to only gentle low irritation products right now but Im not even sure if thats the right approach. I still need good hydration but if its too heavy my skin freaks out immediately.

Has anyone here had the same issue oily but dehydrated skin clogged pores and constant breakouts and actually improved it by focusing on barrier repair?

I'd love to hear what products or routines really helped you. Especially anything lightweight that still strengthens the barrier would be perfect.

It's already been over 5 years since I started getting eyelash perms. I know that getting them done a lot can make your lashes weaker and cause more shedding, so eyelash serum has become a must for me! I've tried quite a few different ones over the years.

  1. COSNORI Long Active Eyelash Serum.

This was the first eyelash serum I ever tried. It absorbed well and was pretty good overall. I actually liked their black version better and used it as a daily mascara substitute. The clear one gave me a bit of eye stinging though. My sister uses it fine, so it seems very personal. The results were decent but the price is on the higher side so I didn't repurchase.

  1. LIVE FRAICHE USDA Organic Castor Oil Lash Serum.

I bought this because it was popular. It has two different tips so you can choose based on what you need. I liked using the brush pen tip to apply it precisely at the lash roots. The downside for me was that it felt pretty sticky and made my eyes uncomfortable. It was okay to use at night before bed but I rarely reached for it in the morning.

  1. BENTON HONEST Eyelash Serum.

This is my all time favorite. Out of everything on the list, this one gave me the best results so I highly recommend it. It's gentle with zero stinging and absorbs nicely. The packaging and tip aren't anything special but the effectiveness is the best. After using it for about 2 months a friend asked if I got lash extensions. I'm already on my second bottle.

  1. The Ordinary Multi-Peptide Lash and Brow Serum.

I just don't seem to get along with The Ordinary brand. Every skincare product I've tried from them gives me breakouts, and this lash serum was no different. Not only did I barely see any results, the brush felt cheap and uncomfortable. It even seemed like my lashes were falling out more, so I'd give this one a low score personally.
