Hello,

This is my first post on here so bear with me. I do not have BPD, but my partner really struggles with insomnia and he has been diagnosed with BPD. Once I move in with him (less than a week) I want to subtly and slowly put him on a sleep schedule (ex. Shower by 9, teeth brushed by 9:30 etc. etc..)

I’ve never been with someone with this disorder. I love this man with everything I’ve got, and I just want him to be able to feel rested. I think if his sleep was better/ more consistent a lot of the things he feels would be more bearable, I think he’d feel a sense of normalcy.

I told him about it and he seems open to the idea, but he doesn’t seem hopeful either. “I’ve been alive this long.” Like he’s just accepted it. I think they are some other mental/emotional things going on that clash with the BPD? Idk for sure.

I guess what I’m asking for is advice, tips, or anything like that. What helped you fall asleep faster, what helped you sleep more deeply, and honestly what helped you maybe dream a little less? There is no medication involved, nor does he want there to be.

I’m very new and still learning about this disorder so if this isn’t a good idea or if I should do something differently please let me know. Thank you to all who give tips/advice <3
