Hello,
I’m after some advice

En suite window handle broke. It was always quite tight to shut, requiring a bit of force to lock the window shut. One day the handle turned freely.
Took the handle and spindle assembly out and can see that the piece where the spindle locks into has sheared.
Any advice on if this is a fix an diyer can fix?
Can the entire mechanism be removed from the frame?

Also is this something that could have been prevented by adjusting the window beforehand to make shutting it easier?
