I’ve been dating a girl for about 4 months. Since the very start, she emphasized that sex is very meaningful to her and that she wouldn’t do it unless she was sure about me. About 3 months in, we started having sex—mostly protected, except for one time (unprotected). We’ve been intimate twice since.
A few days ago, she told me she *might* have HSV-1 because her ex used to get cold sores. She said during their relationship, he actually got tested after they panicked over his cold sores, and his results came back positive. Despite that, she chose to be with him and asked him to not worry cuz she won’t leave him, she didn’t for about 2 years and continued being physically intimate w him for that period including unprotected sex sometimes —though she says they avoided contact during active outbreaks and she herself has never had symptoms.
She told me she “forgot” to mention this earlier and only remembered recently. Now I’m getting her tested w her blood samples while she has exams, but I feel anxious, incapable and stuck. I’m not sure how to process the health risk or the fact that she didn’t tell me before we had sex… im just getting her tests done so i can be sure abt me not having it and confirm if she has it either
what should i do abt this?
