Looking for toy grade/low end nvgs

im not sure if this is a great place to ask after reading a few posts, but i was thinking about getting low end Digital NVGS to mess around with, i dont plan to use these for any practical use besides fun with friends.

i got one of those old Cyclops goggles from 2009 at a garage sale and it was neat but i lost it a few years ago and there was a lot to be desired. However, im sure they have improved since then and im wondering if you guys have any recommendations under 100$ for me to look at.

I modified the cricket pro and dart zone solo to take bcars and scars.

I didn’t want to spend a lot of money on an NXP or XLS, so I wanted to see if these are viable options for our sub-130 FPS games as a single-shot backup.

They work well with half-length darts, and I’ll post a video with my scope cam later to demonstrate the difference (it’s small but noticeable). I’ll also include the other build.

Unfortunately, most full-length darts don’t go through the bcar nicely, and it’s challenging to conserve ammo with half-length darts. So, I end up using no barrel. Bcar

Surprisingly, a good use for it is using absolutely demolished darts. Darts that are flat or damaged tend to curve all over, but if they have enough speed to not flop out of the barrel, the spin will stab it and cause it to spiral downrange. It’s also a nice backup for my Spectrum (flywheeler) if I plan to use both at the same time.

If I experiment with different darts, I bet I could find some that work well, but my Dart Zone Pack just doesn’t want to shoot consistently out of these. As I mentioned, damaged ones were kinda working, so maybe the ones I have are too wide.

By the way, I’m not saying these rival the XSL or NXP. These were just more suitable for my use case. I don’t know how anything over 130 FPS performs to judge how they compare.

What causes the internal glare on some reflective lenses? HD Gold Empire evs.

i wanted a fancy looking lense for my evs and my HD Gold just came in the mail, turns out there is a massive obstructive blob of white glaring from the nose pieve reflecting when im out doors. even in low light i can see it.

i dont know if this is normal or not but its way too obstructive for me, would a darker tint fix it / be better?

Any one wanna give me a run down of how speedsoft works? No local areas to play but i host and build my own maps and wanna try a tournament.

ive seen a fair share of gameplay videos but im not confident on all the mechanics and rules.

obviously for an individual i dont have fancy cams for replays so my current plan is to have 12 players, teams of 2/3 on a round robin style bracket until finals. and all teams not playing will line up on the sides and tap out any one who doesn't notice a hit. I get to know all the players just so i know they aren’t a liability anyways so ive got faith in them.

is there somewhere i could find all the game types too? ive seen different style tournaments and im not sure what one would be the most optimal for us.

if any one wants to give input i will post the 3d layout of the map if that helps tomorrow, but its fairly simple and small, i believe it was 30x65 for what we currently have planned but i think we will expand it slightly once i get measurements for the place we are setting up. .

The yakeda armor carrier is better than noverisch. Heres why

i dont need or explain. you can see the noveritsch is sweating but the yakeda isnt.

this is from amazon:

The molle system feels nice. The Velcro is tough. The stitching is durable. We’ll see how it holds up under heavy use and some training.

you can see from this post its used for training for heavy use.

what bullet armor would you wear?

I’d already get put in here so “any spring pistol owners wanna help me out”

just to be clear ive got like 1300k into gear this is a side quest, i know its impractical. and to any one following my tracks its probably not worth it so just use one stock if youre looking to use one. If you’re performance maxing the starter pistol awesome.

Be entertained by my horrendously questionable choices. I’ve wanted to sell some gear and tinker with spring powered pistols for a while, but I CANNOT justify spending $100+ just for experimental crap (just for 3 btw). So this is where you guys come in.

If anyone owns a spring-powered pistol, could you measure the height and width of the slide, along with how far it travels back? You can just use calipers or a tape measure. Put it on the lower after the spring is loaded, then pull the slide back until it stops. I can post an example pic if needed.

And if you’re really invested, I’d love to see internal measurements too:

1 Barrel bore/type

2 Cylinder size

3 Cylinder length

4 cylinder material and piston cup

Please share the brand and model if you know it.

I’m doing this to narrow down some ideas I had because, for some reason, I’ll randomly find these crappy pistols with way more air volume than expected, which could be interesting.

Now to answer the actual “Why?” I was researching everything I could find on spring pistols like the info junkie I am, and got annoyed by how little detailed information exists. I ended up digging through Amazon reviews, which somehow actually helped. I found some really detailed posts about modding them, but the one that caught my eye is practically impossible to get now. Just knowing it was possible made me want to build one myself. Verdict is get a tm 1911 springer if you dont want to replace it after a shot.

it keeps coming back to me its been a year, the suffering must end!

otherwise maybe ill have to learn blender and 3d print my own to use a piston from a shot gun Thats vsr compatible.

”how do i make that full auto?”

Should i get a clip mania or spectrum? Budget 20-25$

I tried finding a decent flywheeler that runs full length darts last night for a spare, Because my other one got cracked in multiple places last game. still works with some super glue repairs but i don't mind investing in a new one.

was originally going to get a Clip mania, but at Walmart (MN btw) it was about $30, which is a pretty big markup. I was also considering a DZ/AF Spectrum, which they had for $19, so I grabbed one instead. It seemed like the better option anyway since I planned to use NiMHs, and those are a little weaker.

The next day I plugged some batteries in and got no rev. Tried a few different batteries too, still nothing.

I’m pretty sure I can see a crack in the soldering through the plastic, but even if it’s something simple, I’ll probably just return it.

Anyway, I can preorder either one next time for pretty affordable prices, so I’m curious what opinions people here have.

For the games I’m playing, I’d prefer around or under 90 FPS, which I think might be achievable with NiMHs in the Spectrum, but I’ve got no idea what the Clip Mania performs like besides hearing it’s a little weaker. Tbh i dont actually know how either perform i just came to that conclusion from posts about both.

I did at least get to handle the Spectrum in person, though. I don’t really know how to feel about the mags. Without attachments the blaster feels nice, but the mags feel super weird, and the spring is so loose that it twangs and rattles pretty annoyingly while moving around. ( only other flywheeler i own is a blaze storm and i love those mags, idk if this is a normal thing for most.)

I don’t know how they compare overall, but I definitely prefer the look of the Clip Mania mags.

Edit: i tried some 3d printed mags and they feel nice, so disregard all the hate on the mags lol.

i found this storm blaze at a garage sale for 1$, took a saw to it to get rid of design flaws and brought it to a game. should i invest into upgrades? 50 ish fps

ive never worked on a fly wheeler before but i did notice design flaws right away with the muzzle causing problems and the plunger crushing darts so i cut them up. once i did that it was drastically better but still lacking.

as i stated in the title its pretty low power and because of that it takes like 5 darts for some one to feel a hit. with how loud and not so accurate fly wheelers are i feel like it needs a little boost to be worth using.

fps should be near 75-90 for the games id play.

ive done a little maintenance since then so i will post a updated chrono in the comments.

Almost finished building this dart zone solo pro.
just need to add a rifling device and maybe a spring if it drops the fps a little, i just haven't ordered one.

so far ive shimmed the hinge to be really tight for 0 wobble. (idk if thats helpful with nerf guns but i did anyways.) and doubled up springs for the breach catch. i didnt have any strong springs that size so i found something similar to stack which gets the job done but its not ideal.

i was going to upgrade the barrel but from what ive read its possible to fit a rifling device on the stock barrel and it probably wouldn't benefit much from a longer one.

i tried to 3d print a bigger breach catch but it was really un satisfying to use and felt easy to bump so i put the original back in.

a little background of myself, ive played a few different war sports and ive worked on specifically airsoft equipment for over 4 years.
i have a very good understanding of springs, Pistons, Airseals, electric powered guns and Hop-ups (seen those on rivals i think) and can 3d print parts

but im learning i cant just jump into modding after researching, and since im having trouble finding a lot of info on different things i thought id share my questions here and see what you guys think.

no need to reply to the whole list btw if you have some wisdom or experience with anything even not on the list feel free to share, highly appreciated.

ofc we need something to build off of so

  1. what do you look for in a sturdy base? (the body) or what brands have higher build quality.

  2. what brands have the most reliable power sources (aka the piston/cylinder quality)

  3. do you guys have a Preference when it comes to electric or spring? and what would you say are the trade offs of both.

  4. basically the rest of the questions are about nerf exclusive terms like "BCAR"s and "SCAR"s
the importance of different mods and how they affect different setups.

starting with Bcars if i dont plan to have a ridiculous powered replica would this be a viable mod? say under or around 120 fps.
if i remember scars are just barrel rifling? same idea though, spin helps with accuracy.
i had seen a comment somewhere saying something like "Bcars can get finnicky under 150 FPS" but im curious if there is an alternative for lower power setups, if they aren't as useful when slower and even if some of you guys disagree with the statement.

my assumption is bcars are for powerful replicas while normal rifling will be less finicky with lower power.
how do they perform with shorter darts btw?

would going with a smooth barrel with no spin attachment be a bad idea? im just picturing the air pushing it all out of wack without some sort of attachment to stabilize it as it exits the barrel.
note:
(ive got no experience with nerf just a reminder)

might be an odd question here but where can i find info on rival mods? i seriously have seen little to nothing about these things.

lastly just a all round question what do you guys recommend for some one exploring this, should i dump some money and build some ranged setups? im familiar with spending a bunch on replicas but im really just curious how you guys make these things shoot well.
id doubt my friends would dump alot into theirs so if i can make something reliable and accurate without making it 3x the power i think it will be a fun project.
