Hi, I am nearly 13 months pos op ALIF L5-S1and still not pain free. I am still struggling with my left leg because of the weakness and numbness, however my range of movement is wayyy way better.
I am doing different activities in the gym like spinning, fit boxing and functional training (burpees included). I did Pilates for a while and core focused exercises.
I must say that I have lost the fear of moving and whenever I exercise I don’t feel much pain or no pain at all , but after I finish is when I get pain or overload feeling.
I am in physiotherapy for the third time because of my leg and the physio person told me I can try everything so that’s is what I am doing , but I struggle to recognise what is normal what isn’t in my case . Sometimes I push myself to hard without realising, because I think I am back to normal again because of the lack of pain , but I am not .
The main doctor only focuses on the fusion structure and if that’s ok, nothing else matter so dosnt give me indications or orientations about movement or exercise. The family doctor only prescribe tablets if I mention I have pain and again, zero indication beyond “you need to try and the body will tell you”
Can you share what were you able to do after a year pos op ? Were you trying different exercises?
Thanks !!
