Seeing Cora post the video of Mookie made me wonder something. Would we still have traded Mookie if Cora was never let go before the 2020 season?
It was reported that Mookie turned down the 10/300M deal in January 2020, which is also when Cora got “fired”. While we’ve looked at that and seen Mookie just betting on himself to get a better deal, I think it’s possible that he may have turned down the deal because he was frustrated that Cora wasn’t there.
I think that Cora would be a very influential voice in the room when it came to Mookie both being traded in the first place and also being more open to contract negotiations.
Again, this is all speculation and I could have the timeline wrong. This just popped into my head after hearing how much Mookie valued his relationship with Cora in Boston.
