Nightmare Scenario

Headline: “Sonny Gray replaces injured teammate Ranger Suarez in this years all star game and rolls ankle on mound facing his only batter.”

And it’s a bad sprain and he gets shut down right before the deadline.

That’s how cursed this season feels

OUT ON ANTHONY

OUT ON ANTHONY….. what was labeled as
a minor injury and a 10 day IL turned into prehaps a lost season. I watched an old interview today on a former player saying the red sox training and medical staff are second to none meanwhile the same staff has mis diagnosed casas plenty of times, marcelo, story, & now roman.

with the news of the sox shipping outta the north end to fort meyers to rehab i can’t be the only person nearing the OUT ON ANTHONY dialogue. just to think he balled out for team usa in the WBC but we never even gotten a glimpse of that same person after.

i fully understand i might be overreacting but i genuinely don’t know how one recovers from this and not getting the perception of injury prone and bust label if he doesn’t come make an tear the cover off?

If the Red Sox sweep, the KKSMVP is obvious.

We all know the Sox weren't winning this series at a different temperature degree. It's gotta go to the man who won us this series, delivering the first all-76° Sox series in Section 10 history. The Warden of the Weather. The Sultan of Seventy-Six. The Perrault of the Weekend. Your Klark's Ketchup Series MVP. Steve Perrault.

Cavalli racist… Hitting James Wood, not racist.

Do I think he was trying to be racist in the moment? No

Do I think he is racist based on his political leanings and the way “boy” naturally came from his mouth? Yes

Do I think Red Sox fans who said to hit James Wood, were saying they should throw at him cuz he’s not white? Fucking absolutely not, genuinely the most insane take I’ve heard from the pod.

What is going on in Coley’s brain to think that Sox fans who thought Cavalli was being racist actually think the solution to that would be to be racist back. If anything the suggestion would’ve been to throw at all of the white players on the team.

“We can’t throw at their best player cuz he’s not white”, is a ridiculous take and I struggle to believe that Coley actually thinks this. Seems to me he was just frustrated with the guys not agreeing that Cavalli was being racist so he went to hyperbole.

Either way fuck Cavalli. He’s racist and this discourse is enabling a lot of other racists to jump on his side and defend him.

Coley is exhausting

I know this is Reddit so everyone will probably disagree but Coley finding a way to make a potential retaliation against James Woods a race thing is peak liberal mind rot. Just a guy searching for a race issue that he can champion

Coley is a snowflake

Just because it seems cavalli is following someone coley doesn’t particularly like, he is now racist. And he doesn’t leave the door open to maybe, he is declaring this guy is racist for a comment that probably isn’t

To everybody that thinks they know Cavalli’s intentions because of where he is from.

Love the pod, love the boys, usually a defender of them tooth and nail, but I have to speak my piece on this one

The idea that Cade Cavalli definitely meant what he said in an overtly racist way – and further that there is no way he could actually be contrite about it afterwords – because he is from Oklahoma is just lazy, stereotyping, coastal elitism horse shit.

First, just a PSA, Texas and Oklahoma are not part of the Deep South. Southwestern dudes be calling eachother “boy” all the time and as much as you might want it to be, it’s just not a racism thing there. Think the Dallas Cowboys “we dem boys”, think “that boy ain’t right”. Disrespectful, sure. Saying "sit down boy" in that situation is still super out of pocket – especially to somebody going through what Contreras is back home. But if you grew up playing ball in Texas or Oklahoma you heard guys say that shit to each other a million times on the diamond (ex. “swing that shit, boy”). It doesn’t have the weird racial ownership connotation it has in the Deep South that you saw on Django Unchained. I can 100% believe Cavlli said that without realizing the racial undertones it has on the east coast, and felt bad about it after. They are two different places, and saying somebody is for sure racist because he is from Oklahoma while gushing over Payton Tolle is pretty fucking dumb.

Second, Contreras did not take it in a racist context despite the beat reporters trying to get the sound bite from him and damn near put the words directly in his mouth. I'm so sick of people like Coley (a white guy who lives in the whitest part of the entire country) telling brown people how they should feel, as if he is so much smarter than them and they just don't know enough to be offended by what was said.

Let’s stop trying to make this something it’s not just because dude has a southern accent. Cavalli is a dickhead, and yes probably a Republican, but that doesn't make him an out and out Klan member.

My Very Strange Night at Fenway

This probably isn’t as crazy of a night as you may expect but I just needed to share this with fellow Sox fans because I have no friends that would understand.

Tonight sucked. Sox stunk. But that’s not even the worst part. Here’s what I got to experience tonight…

  1. I got disrespected and yelled at by a concession worker 2 mins into entering Fenway. That’s a whole story I won’t get into unless yall really care enough.

  2. I had to sit right in front of the loudest nationals fans that thought they were some badass villains tonight for being there.

  3. This is probably the worst and craziest part… shortly after getting my hot dog I bumped into Craig fkn breslow. I was walking right by the clubhouse door near the grill sure enough the guy comes out takes a few steps and then goes back in. It was almost like he didn’t realize fans were in the park yet but I doubt that was why he went back in. But that’s not the point. How tf do I come face to face with this bum.

Anyways idk if tho post is pointless or uninteresting but it served its purpose I had to tell somebody. Thank you for listening.

Billy's Gummy Bears

Hey, y'all, new to the game here. I cracked open a cold pack of these Bears and sat down to watch Wilson Contreras fight some guy in The Fenway parking garage last night but I realized I don't know how these work. There are no directions on the back. Any help?
