My mom's 96 year old friend friend just experienced a complete loss of vision after a stroke. Prior to her total vision loss, she read large-print books.

Her family bought her an echo pop, thinking she could use Audible, without realizing you only get 1 credit a month. She'll undoubtedly go through a book in a couple days, and can't afford to buy multiple books a month through audible. Even with all the free books they provide, I'm hoping to get a larger range for her.

Because she and her family are older and live abroad, they've asked me to help with tech set-up. Her Amazon echo pop app is on my smartphone. I'm hoping Alexa will work with out her needing to access the app. As she is 96, I want to make things as simple as possible for her. I want to set everything up and tell her the few commands she'll need for Alexa.

Are there other affordable audiobook platforms that are compatible with Alexa voice commands? We tried Libby/Hoopla, but they would require her to open the app on a smartphone phone to play which she can't do. I know there are devices available like the envoy connect, but her family just purchased the echo dot and really want to make that work.

She does not have a smartphone. Is Kindle unlimited with assistive reader a decent option? It seems affordable and Google searches seem to indicate it is compatible with Alexa voice commands. We are located in Canada.

Any help or tips are appreciated!
