Right now the companion party system is less than ideal, as I often give them troops and then they go off and die stupidly and accomplish nothing, but if I could retain some control over them it'd be better.

When I first learned of Marlon giving two young girls away to a group with super creepy, sketchy dudes like Abel, my first assumption was "oh shit, he's selling the girls to a gang of rapists" and I don't think it was a crazy leap in logic, given that in the comics: the one prisoner rapes and murders two little girls, the Governor rapes michonne, Negan rapes multiple women, etc. Sexual violence is not something the source material was ever shy about, and even in the first season the gross old doctor was raping Molly and filming it.

So I was pretty shocked when they swerved away from that into the whole child soldier thing.... and I'll be honest, one of my criticisms with S4 is that the child soldier angle didn't really make a lot of sense. You kidnap and torture someone then give them a gun, they aren't gonna fight for you, they're gonna frag you and run away. It feels like they wanted to go in the darker direction but a suit told them not to.

Anyways, I can't be the only one. What do you think, how would you have felt if they followed that darker plotline?
