One of my closest friends recently got really into making TikToks and Instagram reels, which is totally fine, except now literally everything we do somehow becomes content.

We’ll go out for coffee and before anyone can drink anything she’s rearranging cups for a video. Last weekend a group of us went bowling and she kept asking people to redo reactions because she “missed the shot.” Even normal conversations sometimes get interrupted because she wants to record a clip.

The thing that finally annoyed me was when she filmed me singing along to music in the car and posted it without asking. It wasn’t embarrassing or anything, but I just don’t really like being online that much.

I mentioned it casually and she got defensive and said I was making her feel bad for being creative and that “everyone posts stuff nowadays.”

I don’t think she’s trying to be malicious at all, but I also miss hanging out without feeling like I’m accidentally part of a production team.
