I have been dealing with a problem after placing an $8000 appliance order. Order placed and the phone agent said everything was good. Next day I get a text and email saying my payment didn't go through. I used a card with a 10k limit so there shouldn't be a problem with the card. I verified with the credit card company that the charge is pending.
Turns out Lowe's puts a hold on the full amount of the order and then tries to charge each appliance individually. This caused my card to deny most of the individual charged.
Most ridiculous thing I have ever heard of.
