Custom Layers/Levels?
Was hoping someone can confirm my understanding of the difference of levels and layers in DD, as well as comment on a attempted edit that resulted in a map hanging on load.
In Dungeondraft, levels are separate floors or stacked map states, while layers are the internal drawing/asset organization within a single level. So on a given level, if I draw a wall, it will sit on top of terrain. And if I fill a polygon shaped by a wall with a floor pattern, that lands on top of terrain. And if I place any objects, it sits on top of the floor (or terrain if 'outdoors').
I had been on hiatus from DD for a couple of years and was refreshing myself with some video tuts. One from Baileywiki concerned itself with editing properties in DD via notepad++, and I remembered I had done exactly that with a map to help me with filters that worked pretty good for shadows and lights.
I applied the lesson from that video to a map I was working on, creating a couple of extra custom layers (though in the file, it's labelled as a "level"...which got me doubting my understanding of the two terms). According to the video, you right click on the map, select edit with notepad++, and under the "Levels" section make the edit.
The two layers (levels?) i added were the 500: Shadows, and 600: Lighting. Again, based on my understanding of the hierarchy of the layers.
Unfortunately, this edit has caused the map to hang upon loading. It will load a rather large library of Forgotten Adventures assets, and then when it gets to Krager's Shadow-Light Pack it just gets stuck in a loop of loading.
Then I attempted to load the map without Krager's pack selected in the asset list, but DD ignores the instruction and attempts to load it anyway. This is particularly puzzling because I have not laid out any shadows in the map, all I've got on the map is the walls and a few select areas having a floor pattern. I even have the default shadow button toggled off.
So I'm wondering if the tutorial on editing the map's layers is no longer possible, or if its a peculiarity of Krager's asset pack? Or if I borked up the editing any?
