I (30F) had a first date planned with a guy at 6:30 PM today. We agreed on it earlier, but I didn’t hear from him at all after 1 PM.

6:30 comes - no show, no message. I assume I’ve been stood up and move on.

At 8:45 PM, he finally texts me apologizing. His explanation: he was at his boss’s house in the afternoon, got asked to go to another city with them, stayed there for hours, and “forgot his phone” at the house so he couldn’t contact me. He says he just got back and immediately texted me.

I’m not sure if I’m being too harsh, but this feels… off. Like, even if the story is true, disappearing all day and missing a first date without any heads-up doesn’t scream reliability.

Would you give him another chance, or is this an obvious red flag?
