I have several chronic illnesses, and every last one of them was challenging to get diagnosed. Most of the time it was worth the effort because the doctors could help me treat them, and the treatment improved the quality of my life.
But now I seem to have a new and interesting symptom: low blood pressure. It comes and it goes, but it's intimidating to me how often I feel faint and for how long the feeling lasts. While I don't feel like it's a serious problem, it is starting to impact my daily life.
I'm torn between going in to the doctor to see if I can figure out what's going on, and just ignoring this one as long as it doesn't get worse. I want the help, but I'm skeptical that a doctor would be able to help me with such a generic symptom that - unless I get lucky and happen to have noticeably low blood pressure while I'm there - I would never be able to prove is a problem.
My questions: Have any of you gone in to a doctor complaining about low blood pressure? Were they able to diagnose what caused it? Do you feel it was worth the trouble of getting the diagnosis? And was the issue that caused it treatable?
Thank you in advance for any answers. I appreciate the help.
