I have a ‘16 Legacy, I know noisy engines are common with Subaru. I bought the car in 2021 now I have a problem which is kind of the opposite of what I hear others saying. I drive all day worked as a salesman earlier in the day when the car is not as warm it’s fine but as it warms up throughout the day is when it gets worse. When accelerating at low RPMs, the clattering/chattering gets louder and louder. I just changed the oil yesterday and I typically use 93 or 94 octane fuel. I do notice if I ever try to use 87 it seems to be worse. With the gas prices now I put in 89 octane the other day and it’s been very noticeable. I always keep an eye on the oil levels. I’ve started using the Valvoline restore and protect, allegedly it’s supposed to help with consumption.
