Warning to TD customers: Debit card quietly deleted twice

I keep my savings with TD, and twice in the past year my debit card/EasyWeb access was randomly deleted with no meaningful notice or explanation.

I use another bank for checking, so my TD account just held savings. The first time, TD told me my debit card was removed because I hadn’t used it for a long period. Fine, there had been about a year of inactivity, but you shouldn’t lose account access just because you’re not regularly using a debit card.

Today it happened again. My debit card number stopped working, and logging in to EasyWeb showed a message telling me to contact customer service. Two supervisors told me I supposedly had two active debit cards (not true, the old one had been deactivated) and claimed they mailed me a notice and replacement card. I received nothing: no mail, email, text, or account message.

Both times, my access was quietly removed without proper notification. If you keep money with TD, something to watch out for. I’m switching to a credit union.
