Psychology of Influencing
Anyone else interested in the general psychology of influencing it how impacts your perspective on life and life choices? Some things that pop out to me:
- Polarizing feedback from haters vs super fans. You are either being villianized or adulated and nuanced perspective is deleted or drowned out.
- Incentives to make controversial or life altering decisions (like ragebait or having more babies) has an impact to both your life and your job (babies make marketable content).
- Blurred lines between the person and their Internet persona.
- Fostering para-social relationships is a successful business tactic but can backfire with people questioning parts of your life you don't want questioned.
- Constantly having to come up with new content keeps you on a hampster wheel.
